The high school kids enjoyed a week off from school; ha, ha. We went to the dentist, doctor, or picture apts every day that week. Mom had a little different idea of a "week off" than the kids did! I got a lot done! Shiloh and Shane did end the week with a triple pizza and wii date at our house and then a hockey game with their friends. Also our stake had their Priest/Laurel dinner and dance. It is arranged dates by the stake and formal. The couples get pictures taken and for some, it is like their prom. Shane was assigned a young lady who is disabled and mentally challenged. She was very shy. Shane did a great job in making her feel special. She had to leave the evening early because her medication had been changed and she was feeling ill. She said it was the best evening she'd had and Shane walked her to the car to make sure she was alright. I had many adults come to me and tell me how wonderful he was and what a complete gentleman he was. I must admit i was very pleased and proud of him. Shiloh had a bit of a time herself. Her date, who was very shy and awkward, called to the surprise of his leaders and asked her. He was so glad she'd said yes! Then he got the flu and couldn't go. The night before someone else was suppose to ask her but didn't. So...Shiloh got to invite her own date, a friend from East Valley, and she had a great time. She also had another one of her friends go with a girl from our stake because her date couldn't go. She saved the day! James of course was the hit of the party at our table and the kids said they didn't know a stake president could be so funny. He was great.
Shauna turned 15! She got her ears pierced and can wear eyeshadow now. I did her eyebrows a bit thinner than usual and couldn't believe the difference it made. When she got up to bear her testimony in church, she looked 2 years older! That's the last time I get rid of those bushy eyebrows!
James and I attended a CES fireside, via satellite, with President Packer. He was so awesome, so down to earth, such a great sense of humor, and such a great teacher. His main focus was that we are good enough and stop worrying about our qualifications for any calling and get to work. I really appreciated his words. And probably the most exciting thing is, by the time you all read this, Grandma Lee will be home! We are going to the airport to welcome her home. We can't wait!
Well, there you have it. February in a nutshell. Until next month, Lisa and the gang.
